Alien Stage: The True Face Analysis
https://www.patreon.com/posts/en-true-face-130837905 is where the comic is
i think people cannot conceptualize any sort of depth in this show and watch it because wow shipping, which is part for the course for anything that gets popular but its whatever
In MiziSua:
this entire video showcases the difference in how sua and mizi were raised, Sua was seen as a doll, something to dress up, while Mizi was viewed to be more free and the person who got to have nice things around her, not be the nice thing for others.
Does it mean Sua is evil?--no it means she, the one person Mizi loved, also failed to understand that simply being in this situation is traumatizing. Sua's apathy when it comes to enduring the life she lives seeped into her interactions with Mizi. We see Mizi use her (figuratively) when judging herself and her actions, seen in the comic as Sua looks as till and mizi crying above him--mizi never (presumably) cared about till, and she hated the fact that she was liked by him, so why is she mourning over him now?
However its not to say that mizi as a woman, and mizi, as a performer, isn't seen the same way Sua was. In my eyes I feel like sua was in a sense, "relieved" of being a performer, and object--almost immediately, as she dies in the first round.
Humans are objectified in this world, which is why mizi the performer, is dehumanized. The audience in these performances are of aliens-- entities that do not value and are supposedly infinitely more powerful than the humans. In this situation, there is no way to be freed because there is a universe of people who don't think you are equal to them. We see this devaluation with Till especially, the more he defies the more he is hurt.
Humans dehumanize women, and are seen to be objectified--something we see when a boy (no its not Luka, Luka is designed way differently) talks to Mizi and asks why she's friends with Till if they cant be friends because men and women "can only fall in love and end up mating". She says its disgusting (valid), gets hit and is dehumanized (read it) because she’s pretty and "takes advantage of idiots" or the men who like her.
Mizi is literally going insane because she isn't allowed to feel bad, to be friends with others, for the sole fact that she's pretty and people like her. While it is reasonable to say that she may be in a better situation than others, and she shouldn't lead people on, she TELLS till that she only likes Sua ( not leading people on) and she is STILL in the same oppressive environment, she is still treated like a pet, even if she's treated well.
In round 5:
we see mizi being treated as a woman--objectified, as luka makes advances and does forceful things in the name of romance, treating her the same was Sua was treated by others. I think this is the beginning of where people could potentially see the duality of Mizi, her guilt of having inadvertently killed Sua mixed with the deceptive implication of luka and the goal to survive alien stage. We also see a Mizi tired of the objectification, as a performer AND a woman. She beats up luka (valid) and is taken away. The main difference between Mizi and Luka is approach and intent. One is explicit--manipulation of the system and the people around him to win. He stays, which tbh, he could've never left because of his implied illness (Seen in Weige).
Mizi is implicit, and not intentional. She leaves, rebels, and finds Hyuna.
Hyuna shows her that 1. you don't have to live that life, it can be fun and exhilirating to be free. 2. you can be strong and resilient as a woman--women have worth and power beyond looks (her hair get cut short here), signifying that release of the expectation to be pretty (im sure she would've done it if she knew she could without consequence before this).
Hyuna and Luka are good contrasting characters, because Luka is so weak, as a male and human, he is obsessive, deceptive, and ingenuine--he accepts Mizis beating, as he literally doesn't have the strength (i hc) to fight her. He is seen getting treatment, implying a health condition. I think he’s also shown to be very malnourished, possibly by a lack of ability to intake nutrients. Hyuna has to be strong, as she loses her competition, loses her brother, her leg, and countless comrades. Despite all of this, she is incredibly resilient, and even helps Mizi to realize that she can have a life beyond alien stage. Luka only truly experiences loss with her death.
Every single persons dynamic in this show is flawed in one way or another due to the lives their living, and i think were seeing a very realistic perspective of being in the situation that theyre in-- here specifically, mizi was tired of being seen as someone to be loved and valued, as if she had any sort of control of the situation they were in.
I think she inadvertently believes and thinks there is a part of her that wants to win--and in a sense, there is because she is a human trying to survive. Its a bit difficult to see her or frankly anyone as inherently bad because they are living in a world that showed them that they will die if they don't do so. Not entirely sure if Alien Stage is going to have another video, but what I am anticipating is Mizi having to deny the resurgence of this false-self, a person full of guilt, anger, and deception. The person who thinks she killed Sua, Ivan, Till, and Hyuna, just to win.
